What Happened
A cat named Biscuit reportedly turned a laundry timer into a household appointment system after noticing that its beep made everybody stop and investigate.
Biscuit first encountered the timer during a towel cycle. When it beeped, a family member walked toward the laundry room, opened the door, and announced that the towels were ready. Biscuit watched from the hallway with the focus of a small office manager.
The next morning, Biscuit stepped on the timer button. It beeped. The cat walked to a sunny patch by the window and sat down. The family assumed this was coincidence until Biscuit repeated the process twenty minutes later, then moved to the basket beside the sofa.
A handwritten schedule soon appeared on the refrigerator. It listed Window Nap, Basket Nap, Emergency Hallway Stretch, and a 2:15 appointment labeled Human Must Sit Here. Biscuit attended every meeting, although he declined to explain the purpose of the stretch.
The dog was appointed receptionist and immediately accepted payment in treats. The cat then added a cancellation policy: anyone disturbing a nap must reschedule after a respectful pause and one apology. The household has not found a way to appeal.
The timer has been moved out of paw range, but Biscuit still sits beside it at appointment times. The family says he may have lost the button but not the calendar.
Why This Matters
This matters because one ordinary appliance beep can become a full scheduling department when a cat realizes people will respond to it.
