Goldfish Runs Tiny Aquarium Call Center, Puts Family on Hold for Flakes

A goldfish discovered a baby monitor button and turned feeding time into a customer-service experience with bubbles.

What Happened

A goldfish named Pebble has been accused of operating what witnesses described as “a tiny underwater call center” after repeatedly pressing the talk button on a baby monitor mounted near his tank.

The family says the button was supposed to let them reassure the fish during tank cleanings. Pebble interpreted it as management software. By Thursday evening, he was summoning people with urgent bubble noises, staring at the food container, and then swimming away like he had successfully escalated a ticket.

Why This Matters

Fish are often described as low-maintenance pets, but that description was created before consumer electronics gave them access to middle management. Once an animal can beep at you from across the house, the organizational chart changes.

Deeper Context

The baby monitor has been moved, the feeding schedule has been printed, and Pebble is now communicating by tapping the glass exactly once every time someone opens yogurt. The family says this is an improvement, but only technically.
