A family parrot reportedly turned one microwave beep into a daily school day after deciding the sound meant everyone should report to the kitchen immediately.
The parrot, a green-and-yellow bird named Pickle, had spent months copying household noises. One afternoon, the microwave finished warming a mug of tea. Pickle repeated the beep, then shouted, “Everybody up!” from his perch.
One family member wandered into the kitchen to see what was happening. Pickle nodded, made the beep again, and called, “Present!” The next morning, he repeated the entire routine before breakfast. By the end of the week, the household had an attendance procedure.
