Parrot Learns Doorbell Chime, Opens Tiny Visitor Services Desk

A parrot learned the household doorbell sound and began greeting every delivery, squirrel, and passing jogger with a formal visitor announcement.

What Happened

A parrot named Mango reportedly turned a familiar doorbell chime into a full visitor-services operation after learning that the sound made everyone look toward the front door.

Mango first copied the chime during a grocery delivery. The family looked up, checked the porch, and discovered the bird sitting beside his cage with the calm expression of someone who had just completed an important notification.

The next morning, Mango rang in the delivery driver before the driver had even reached the steps. He followed the chime with a bright hello and then announced that nobody appeared to be carrying crackers. The family realized the bird had not simply learned a sound. He had learned a job title.

A small sign soon appeared beside the cage: VISITOR SERVICES. Mango handled arrivals, departures, and suspicious activity near the mailbox. A squirrel received three alerts. A neighbor jogging past received a welcome, a weather comment, and a reminder to use the sidewalk.

The cat was assigned security but quit after Mango described a falling leaf as an unauthorized outdoor visitor. The dog remained on patrol and accepted payment in treats for every report that did not concern him.

The real doorbell has been muted, but Mango continues the desk from his cage. He now announces each family member entering the kitchen and has started requesting a lunch break at exactly noon.

Why This Matters

This matters because a parrot does not need a uniform, a clipboard, or a front desk to become the most organized employee in the house.
